Newborn Exams

Whether you are a new parent or expecting another baby, pregnancy and the time after the birth can be difficult, as you are likely to be alert to the slightest changes in your body and your newborn’s behavior.

That is why we strongly suggest following the CDC's newborn screening schedule. These exams start in the hospital right after birth and continue on a regular basis. These visits give you a chance to address any concerns you may have. During the check up, your doctor will do a thorough and complete exam to make sure your baby is developing well.

Our clinic will also be able to provide you with your baby’s immunization schedule, which although unpleasant, is one less thing to worry about, as you adjust to life with a little one.

Well-Child Exams

Once your baby begins to grow into a toddler, the support does not stop. You will see that changes happen quickly, and will want to pause and enjoy each stage of your child’s development. During this fun and amazing time, well-child exams are a helpful way to check how your child is developing and address any issues – physical, behavioral, and emotional – as they come up.

When your child has a well-child exam, your pediatrician will check their overall health and measure their growth and vital signs. You will be able to ask the doctor for guidance about diets, behavior and any other worries and concerns you may have. In the first few years, the well-child exams will happen more often and become less frequent once they start school.

School Physicals

Once your child starts school, the well-child exams are replaced by yearly school physicals. Kids love sharing germs, and many childhood diseases are very contagious. Therefore, the school physicals are a necessary precaution to protect your child and the school community.

School physicals happen once a year, and hopefully, they will be the only time of the year you need to visit the clinic. Your doctor will monitor the development and health of your child, keep your immunization schedule up to date, and provide a safe place for you and your child to talk about any issues related to growing up. This is especially useful as children become teenagers, which can be a perplexing and tough time for everyone involved.

Sports Physicals

Playing sports is a great way to help your child develop both physically and socially. Like school physicals, these exams are a legal requirement in some states. And, they are a great way to help get kids safely onto the playing field.

A sports physical exam gives our clinic the chance to update your child's medical history and check their general health, which will allow them to identify any risk factors related to your child playing a specific sport. From there, the doctor will be able to advise you on ways to reduce any risk involved with physical activities. In the case of certain conditions such as allergies and asthma, with slight changes to medication and increased awareness of the risk factors, most kids can enjoy a fun sporting experience.
